08:12 pm: One Year Later
This month marks one year since my dog was put to sleep. It was November 7th when it happened. I knew it was his time to go, and I felt a little jaded afterwards. I remember all of those days when I took him for walks and how he would always bark at everyone that walked past him.

He was my first pet, and I still miss him. I know that the flow of time continues, but I can't help how I feel. At the start of 2009, I was almost at the point of avoiding the celebration of holidays, because it was going to be the first year without a pet. And some said that kind of choice would be stupid.

So...that's pretty much all I have to say.

*hug* Just take a deep breathe and let them go. The spirit of your animal companion should be put to rest. Especially after a year. Maybe it's time for you to get a new pet? For some it's easy for some it's hard but either way, it's still a good time you have with them and you can learn to get used to another. Much like all basic interaction with others. :-)

Thanks. My mom talked about getting another pet, but I said no. Part of me is debating on the matter. Maybe if I'm ready.

I'm sorry to hear that :( I know how you feel though. Last October was a year since my first cat had to be put to sleep, so I know it's tough. He used to rest under our Christmas tree every year and "protect" the snow village my mom set up under the tree (and of course my other cat does the total opposite; he attempts to destroy it and play with the tree's lights XDD), so the first Christmas without him last year was very odd for us.

I think you should still celebrate the holidays though; even though he's not around physically he's still with you :). (At least I believe so; my cat still freaks out at random as if he's seeing ghosts, especially after my first cat passed away...)

I'm sorry about your cat. That's cool that he was a protector of that snow vilage. My dog would jump off the couch and bark at the mailman, the pizza delivery men, and even the sound of the doorbell on TV would drive him into a barking frenzy.

I love the holidays though. I told that plan to some people and they were like, "are you insane?".
